Recommended Pit Stops

Chandigarh (260km from Delhi): First major stop — fuel up, grab breakfast, stretch. The city has plenty of highway dhabas and petrol stations.

Sundernagar (370km from Delhi): A good lunch stop before you hit the mountains. The town has several restaurants and an ATM (withdraw cash here — ATMs in Jibhi can be unreliable).

Aut (455km from Delhi): Last town on the main highway before the mountain road begins. Top up your fuel tank — the next petrol station is in Banjar, 25km away.

The Aut–Jibhi Mountain Section

From Aut, you turn onto NH305 and begin climbing into the Tirthan Valley. The road narrows and winds for about 35km — beautiful, but requiring focus. Speed is slow but the scenery more than compensates. You'll pass through Banjar town (where there's a petrol pump and ATM) before arriving in Jibhi.

This section takes 60–90 minutes. Do not attempt it after dark if you're unfamiliar with mountain roads.

Overnight Bus from Delhi

If you prefer not to drive, HRTC (Himachal Road Transport Corporation) operates overnight buses from Delhi's ISBT Kashmiri Gate to Banjar, the nearest town to Jibhi (4km away). The journey takes approximately 13–14 hours. From Banjar, take a local taxi to Jibhi (₹100–200).

When to Drive

Best months: October–June. Roads are clear, visibility good, and the mountain section is manageable even for first-timers.

Avoid: July and August (peak monsoon). The Aut–Jibhi stretch is prone to landslides and road closures during heavy rainfall. If you must travel in monsoon, always check road conditions with Himachal Pradesh traffic updates before departing.
